The metalloids are a group of elements in the periodic table. They are located to the right of the post-transition metals and to the left of the non-metals. Metalloids have some properties in common with metals and some in common with non-metals.

Group 16 of the periodic table is also called the oxygen group. The first three elements—oxygen (O), sulfur (S), and selenium (Se)—are nonmetals. They are followed by tellurium (Te) (Figure below), a metalloid, and polonium (Po), a metal. All group 16 elements have six valence electrons and are very reactive.

Oxygen Properties – What are the Physical Properties of Oxygen?

• Color : Colorless.
• Phase : Gas.
• Odor : Oxygen is an odorless gas.
• Taste : A tasteless gas.
• Conductivity : A poor conductor of heat and electricity.
• Solubility : Slightly soluble in water, alcohol and some other common liquids.
• Density : It is denser than air.

In normal conditions oxygen is a colourless, odourless and insipid gas; it condensates in a light blue liquid. Oxygen is part of a small group of gasses literally paramagnetic, and it’s the most paramagnetic of all. Liquid oxygen is also slightly paramagnetic.

Oxygen is a colorless, odorless, tasteless gas. It changes from a gas to a liquid at a temperature of -182.96°C (-297.33°F). The liquid formed has a slightly bluish color to it. Liquid oxygen can then be solidified or frozen at a temperature of -218.4°C (-361.2°F).

Oxygen, carbon, sulfur and chlorine are examples of non-metal elements.
