Just like above, a plain white sheet works best. It doesn’t have to be a bedsheet, either. Any piece of smooth, white cloth will do the trick. The trickiest part of using a sheet as a projector screen is hanging it properly to avoid wrinkles, folds, or movement.

The basic rule of thumb when it comes to selecting projector screens is that the viewing audience should be seated between 2-8 times times the screen height. This provides for the most comfortable view for your audience.

A front projection screen is normally a matt white material and often they are designed with a backing that does not allow light to penetrate through it. This is useful if you have to place a screen in front of a window or other light source as it prevents the penetrating light from affecting the projected image.

The most popular screen sizes fall within 100 – 120 inches (2.5m-3m) diagonal, but this largely depends on the size of your room. This is around 2.2m-2.65m wide (based on a widescreen 16:9 projector) and makes going for a projector over a professional display worthwhile.

For a 120-inch screen, you should sit 100.8 inches (or 8ft) away from your screen.

To find your optimum distance, measure the size of your screen diagonally and divide that size by . 84. Using that calculation, a 100-inch projector screen requires an optimal viewing distance of 119 inches or 3m from the screen.

Projection Distance

There is a simple formula to help select the right screen size. The distance from the television to the viewer should be 1 ½ to 3 times the screen size. For example, if there is 12 feet (144 inches) between the back couch cushion to the wall, then the ideal screen size is between 144/1.5 to 144/3, or 96 to 48 inches.

Screen Size Dimensions

While there’s no perfect size for your home theater, bigger is better. For a fully immersive experience, 20ft long by 15ft wide is best, with high ceilings. However, smaller, typical family rooms around 10ft square are also fine for use with a large TV.

The ideal size for a monitor mainly depends on its resolution and how far you’re sitting from the screen. Overall, 1920×1080 shouldn’t be used on anything larger than 24-inch. 1440p is ideal for 27-inch, and 4K is great for 27-inch to 32-inch, depending on preference.

For regular desktop spaces and fewer resolution needs, a 24-inch monitor is ideal. The 27-inch monitor is widely used for having high-end resolution games and for having more significant views on the screen. It depends on your space, budget, gaming requirements and all.

Determining the Distance

At normal viewing distance and 1440p resolution, it will provide the best gaming experience. While 24 / 1080p is good, 27 / 1440p is much better because it takes up more of the field of view and has a higher resolution. If it is 27 inches, a gaming monitor with a resolution of 4K is also an option.

27 inch should be easily fit 2 window with good size each, but not sure about 24 inch so asking.
