IIITs are much better than VIT. VIT is an average Institute with good students having average and sometimes below par faculties(exception are everywhere). It’s worth it if you get what you want out of it. Bits gives you good people (teachers, students) around you, it gives you good infrastructure and a good platform to develop yourself and also to project yourself in job market ( many good companies come to recruit). So, I’d say, it’s worth it.

Bits pilani and Bits goa CSE are considered best and better than many IIT’s and nit’s. If you want just an IIT tag instead of having other option , that totally depends on your choice . Nevertheless both colleges provide excellent level of engineering education.
