The basic purpose of alignment is to unify and organize the page. as consistency – it is a conscious effort to unify all parts of a design. typeface choices, line thicknesses, colors, shapes, sizes, space, etc.

The variables of line are: size, shape, position, direction, number, interval and density. Points create lines, lines create shapes or planes and volume. Mass – Here, mass is interchangeable with volume. A mass is a solid body or a grouping of visual elements (line, color, texture, etc.)

Alignment helps to organize information to make it clearer and more professional looking. Alignment may be achieved using onscreen guidelines. Proximity helps to establish relationships between items. Items in close proximity appear related.

Aligning elements which are not in close proximity with each other, helps to provide an invisible connection between them. Alignment is one of the most basic and important principles of design. It allows us to create order and organisation among elements.

Asymmetry is rather common in natural forms: you’re probably right- or left-handed; fiddler crabs have different sized claws; trees branches grow in different directions; clouds have random shapes. Asymmetry creates more complex relationships between elements, and so it tends to be more interesting than symmetry.

We find perfect symmetry when two mirrored sides are exactly the same. Assuming that our mirrors are clean, we’ll always notice that the real right hand and its mirror image (which flips to look like a left hand) are perfectly symmetrical.
