Capitalization (American English) or capitalisation (British English) is writing a word with its first letter as a capital letter (uppercase letter) and the remaining letters in lower case, in writing systems with a case distinction.

Italicizing and Underlining The titles of books, the titles of poems (Long poems. The ones that could be a book by themselves.), speeches (particularly famous speeches), the titles of movies, the titles of TV shows, plays, long musical pieces, and magazines.

The rules are fairly standard for title case: Capitalize the first and the last word. Capitalize nouns, pronouns, adjectives, verbs, adverbs, and subordinate conjunctions. Lowercase articles (a, an, the), coordinating conjunctions, and prepositions.

In title case, capitalize the following words in a title or heading: the first word of the title or heading, even if it is a minor word such as “The” or “A” words of four letters or more (e.g., “With,” “Between,” “From”)

Title case is used to capitalize the following types of titles and headings in APA Style:

1. Titles of references (e.g., book titles, article titles) when they appear in the text of a paper,
2. Titles of inventories or tests,
3. Headings at Levels 1 and 2,

Capital cases are cases that, if the defendant is guilty, he or she will face the death penalty. First-degree murder cases, either on grounds of premeditation or cases that based on the felony-murder doctrine are generally capital cases.

Anything that doesn’t fall into one of those categories should be in sentence case—and if the name didn’t tip you off, that’s the opposite of title case. In sentence case, the only thing that should be capitalized is the sentence’s first word and any proper nouns.

Camel case and Pascal case are similar. Both demand variables made from compound words and have the first letter of each appended word written with an uppercase letter. The difference is that Pascal case requires the first letter to be uppercase as well, while camel case does not.
