External morality is the view from outside, reflecting the ethos of the wider society. The recent discipline of bioethics has grown up largely outside medicine and has developed principles of its own. Rules drawn from principles in bioethics and from other ethical doctrines in society are often codified into laws.

i. Strong Foundationalism. Strong foundationalists hold that the properly basic beliefs are epistemically exalted in some interesting sense.

Externalism in the philosophy of mind contends that the meaning or content of a thought is partly determined by the environment. The view has garnered attention since it denies the traditional assumption, associated with Descartes, that thought content is fixed independently of the external world.

One answer to this is that moral values come from religions, transmitted through sacred texts and religious authorities, and that even the values of non-religious people have been absorbed from the religious history around them.

In terms of where ethics come from, they come from society and the collective beliefs and values of its citizens. But, more specifically, ethics also come from those individuals willing to make difficult choices and think about big questions: good and bad, right and wrong.

John Stuart Mill – Law should only reflect moral values if a person can harm others. This is regarded as a liberal approach between law and morality, in otherwords the state should not make any laws against an individual unless it will cause harm (used in a wide sense) to another.

” Simply put, a law changes ”morality” when it (a) changes a person’s behavior or attitudes, by (b) changing how the person believes they and others ”ought” to behave or think. The classic example is the control of crime. When we criminally punish a particular behavior, we expect less of it.

While they’re closely related concepts, morals refer mainly to guiding principles, and ethics refer to specific rules and actions, or behaviors. A moral precept is an idea or opinion that’s driven by a desire to be good. An ethical code is a set of rules that defines allowable actions or correct behavior.
