When we say ‘be objective’ we typically mean a number of things:

1. Be unemotional, not getting agitated or distressed in any way.
2. See things as they really are, not from a personally biased viewpoint.
3. Be neutral, understanding both points of view.

An objective is a goal, but to be objective is to be unbiased. If you’re objective about something, you have no personal feelings about it. In grammar land, objective relates to the object of a sentence.

Aim = what you hope to achieve. Objective = the action(s) you will take in order to achieve the aim. Aims are statements of intent. Objectives, on the other hand, should be specific statements that define measurable outcomes, e.g. what steps will be taken to achieve the desired outcome.

Aims are general statements concerning the overall goals, ends or intentions of teaching. Objectives are the individual stages that learners must achieve on the way in order to reach these goals. Example a teacher might have an aim that a learner should be able to save work on a computer.

4. Add additional criteria to indicate how or when the outcome will be observable to add context for the student.

Behavioral objectives

A behavioral objective is a learning outcome stated in measurable terms, which gives direction to the learner’s experience and becomes the basis for student evaluation. Objectives may vary in several respects. They may be general or specific, concrete or abstract, cognitive, affective, or psychomotor.

A well-constructed behavioral objective describes an intended learning outcome and contains three parts, the behavior verb, the condition, and the measurement criteria.
