Also known as Talking God to Be One, Soft Talker, or Dawn Bearer (hastseyalti, yeibeichai), Talking God is a main Navajo deity.

Yá’át’ééh. Hello (General greeting)

In English, the Navajo word abíní means morning. So say you wanted to greet people with a “good morning,” you can use the word for “it is good” to create the Navajo phrase, “Yá’át’ééh abíní!”

However, Hindi or Bengali and many other languages have multiple words that literally mean love. In Navajo, you can say ‘ayóó anííníshní’ to mean ‘I love you’. There is a variation you could use as well, ayóó ánóshní, which also has the same meaning.

The Navajo word for “my maternal grandmother” is shimá sání . This can also mean “my mother’s mother’s sister” and “my mother’ father’s sister” (great aunts). It can also mean older female clan relatives. The Navajo word for “my paternal grandmother” is: shinálí asdzą́ą́.

Shicheii Shicheii is my mother’s father, or my grandfather (aka maternal grandfather). In the Navajo way, shicheii is also my grandson by my daughter (a kind of nickname or recognition).
