Aphrodite was furious with Eos because Ares had fallen in love with her. She cursed her to live the rest of her life in a futile quest of true love. She had multiple lovers and gave birth to many children but never managed to find the ideal partner who would live up to her expectations.

Adonis

As you might expect, Aphrodite was usually depicted as a young beautiful woman by the Greeks. She was often pictured with an apple, scallop shell, dove or swan. Eros, the Greek god of love, was sometimes attending to her in art. Aphrodite rode a flying chariot that was pulled by sparrows.

Who killed Aphrodite? Aphrodite was not killed in Greek Myth. Aphrodite is one of the Olympians, who, as far as the myths went, was (and presumably still is, if Greek Hellenism is your faith) the goddess of beauty and love. No myths depict her being killed or dying in any way.

She married Hephaestus but had many lovers including the Ares, the god of war and Adonis. Strengths: The ability to make men fall in love with her. Weaknesses: She was Vain, bad tempered, jealous and unfaithful.

Her enemies are Athena, Hestia, Artemis, Hephaestus, Helios and Hera. Hera and Hephaestus are perhaps Aphrodite’s foremost enemies, since Hera arranged Aphrodite’s marriage to Hephaestus, the ugliest of the gods, against her will. The Graces are perhaps her best-known friends, as Aphrodite treasured their beauty.

Advertisement. Hestia was the personification of the hearth & so she received sacrifices in all the temples of the gods. The goddess was the only one to not join the Olympians in their failed attack on Zeus. In some lists, Hestia is one of the 12 Olympian gods but more commonly her place is taken by Dionysos.
