THRESHOLD MOMENTS are those turning points in your life when you faced a difficult decision, life event or a surprising pivot which changed your life forever.

The theme of Goldilocks and the Three Bears is to always consider how your actions might affect others. Due to Goldilocks’ selfishness, she is unable to see how breaking into the bears house and using their things without permission is disrespectful and rude.

The moral of the story is the need to respect the privacy and property of others and how your actions hurt others. What Goldilocks does by entering another’s house and using their property is wrong. When she enters the bears’ house and eats their food and uses their furniture, she is also very selfish.

Too close: oceans boil away, greenhouse effect kicks in. Hot, dry like Venus. Too far: temperatures drop, rapid glaciation. The Goldilocks problem: early calculations indicated that the “habitable zone” in the solar system was 0.95 < D < 1.01 AU.

The ‘Goldilocks Zone,’ or habitable zone, is the range of distance with the right temperatures for water to remain liquid. Discoveries in the Goldilocks Zone, like Earth-size planet Kepler-186f, are what scientists hope will lead us to water––and one day life.

Earth

Earth is the only planet in our solar system’s habitable zone. Mercury and Venus are not in the habitable zone because they are too close to the Sun to harbor liquid water.

After the Earth, Mars is the most habitable planet in our solar system due to several reasons:

• Its soil contains water to extract.
• It isn’t too cold or too hot.
• There is enough sunlight to use solar panels.
• Gravity on Mars is 38% that of our Earth’s, which is believed by many to be sufficient for the human body to adapt to.
