A conversational narcissist is someone who constantly turns the conversation toward themselves and steps away when the conversation is no longer about them. They are generally uninterested in what other people have to say.

An interrupt is simply a pause in, or interruption of, whatever the processor was doing, along with a request to do something else. The hardware generates an interrupt whenever it has reached some state where software intervention is desired.

Interrupt is the method of creating a temporary halt during program execution and allows peripheral devices to access the microprocessor. The microprocessor responds to that interrupt with an ISR (Interrupt Service Routine), which is a short program to instruct the microprocessor on how to handle the interrupt.

1. Interrupting to ask for clarification. If you want the person you are talking with to give you a longer explanation or additional detail, it’s perfectly okay to interrupt them to ask for clarification.

1. Monopoly on Conversation. Many narcissists talk over or interrupt other people during conversations in order to express their views or talk about themselves. This behavior can border on a compulsion, cowing others into total silence for minutes at a time.

Narcissistic individuals do tend to listen to someone they see as higher in power than themselves. If those with narcissistic habits respect their therapists, their listening can appear to their therapist to be quite normal.

So, how do narcissists experience their critical inner voice? In narcissistic individuals, the preponderance of their critical inner voices is directed at others and putting others down to make them feel better about themselves.

Narcissistic people simply look down on others, seeing themselves as superior. Whether they actually feel superior (grandiosity) or are trying to compensate for weakness (vulnerability) could not be determined by this study.

Narcissists are very good manipulators and will try to make their victims feel guilty in order to control them and have the upper-hand in the relationship.

Narcissists are famous for lying or exaggerating certain things to make themselves appear more important or impressive. They also do this to make themselves feel better about their own standing in society. So it’s only logical that one of a narcissists’ greatest fears is having those lies and exaggerations exposed.
