Heracles, Greek Herakles, Roman Hercules, one of the most famous Greco-Roman legendary heroes.

By tradition, the Oracle of Delphi sat on a three-legged stool over an opening in the Earth which supposedly conveyed messages from Apollo. Supplicants were supported from the Oracle by a barrier, and they were expected to sit quietly while she delivered her message as the mouthpiece of Apollo.

In legend. According to Pausanias and others, Hercules travelled to Delphi to consult the Oracle following the death of Iphitus, whom he had thrown off a wall in the city of Tiryns while Iphitus was staying with him as a guest. Suffering from nightmares, Hercules sought advice as to how to be cured.

Hercules trapped the lion in its cave and strangled it. For the rest of his life, he wore the animal’s pelt as a cloak. Second, Hercules traveled to the city of Lerna to slay the nine-headed Hydra—a poisonous, snake-like creature who lived underwater, guarding the entrance to the Underworld.

In Greek mythology, Megara was the oldest daughter of Creon, king of Thebes. Megara was offered by her father to Hercules because he defended Thebes. She had two children, a boy, and a girl, but was killed with both of them by Hercules in his madness caused by Hera.

Nothing is known of Megara before her marriage to Hercules. He was the son of Zeus, king of the gods, and a mortal woman named Alcmene.

This leaves Megara feeling heartbroken and determined to never fall in love again. The man who left her is later revealed to be prince Adonis in the episode of the TV series Hercules the series.

Zeus realized he needed another approach. So he appeared to her in the guise of a bedraggled, rain-soaked cuckoo. Hera saw the poor bird and kindly brought him into the shelter of her bosom to warm and dry him. He thus shamed Hera into marrying him.
