The Walking Dead regularly emphasizes the bonds that form between two characters. During the series’ fourth season, Beth and Daryl’s budding friendship came to the surface as the two were paired up in the post-prison exodus arc.

9 When He Got Mad At Beth Beth had simply assumed Daryl had been to prison, considering his background and the fact that his brother was a known convict, which offended the latter. As soon as he found out Beth’s assumptions, Daryl exploded in anger on Beth for thinking of him as a criminal, greatly scaring her.

Elsewhere, Daryl teaches Beth (Emily Kinney) how to track and use his crossbow. When a walker surprises them, they turn to flee but Beth gets her foot caught in an animal trap, and Daryl is forced to carry her.

Arguably the one with the most romantic potential for Daryl was Beth. Left to escape on their own, they shared intimate conversations about their lives, drank together, and seemed like a sweet couple out on the first date.

Reedus has some doubts about Daryl’s awareness of anything romantic between himself and Beth: If Daryl has a thing for Beth or whatever, I always saw that as, if he did, he didn’t understand those feelings. He might have felt them, but it wasn’t a thing.
