For many it was the best fun day out in Cornwall for generations of kids but Holywell Bay Fun Park, near Newquay, has announced its sudden closure after 30 years. The attraction, which featured water rides, giant slides, maze, battle boats and go karts, took to Facebook to announce its closure.

Q. Is Holywell Bay still open?

Newquay’s Holywell Bay Fun Park is open from 10.30am for the main season, Easter – October, but please check opening days and times on our website before embarking on your day out.

Holywell Bay is a huge sandy beach with extensive high sand dunes, popular with families and surfers. Facilities are in Holywell village which is a 5 minute walk from the beach. Safety: Signs warn of strong undercurrents and risk of falling rocks from the cliffs.

Explore Holywell Bay Holiday Park Take a 10 minute stroll to the spectacular beach to enjoy picnics on the powder-soft sand or simply marvel at the amazing view of the famous Gull Rocks. Nearby, you can also enjoy the sights and sounds of bustling Newquay, only a 15 minute drive away.

Q. Is warmwell swimming pool open to public?

Please note our swimming pool is closed to the general public. Guests can still use the swimming pool during opening times. All children under the age of 4 must be supervised by an adult on a one-to-one basis, while children under 8 must be supervised by an adult in the swimming pool.

Holywell beach is beautiful and relaxing. The beach is surrounded by sand dunes which attracts kids and dog walkers but be aware that the whole area is a breeding ground for Adders.

There are currently no restrictions on taking your dog on Holywell or Crantock beaches and there are plenty of footpaths to explore with your furry friend. Holywell and Crantock beaches are popular with families, and children may be frightened if approached by a dog unfamiliar to them.

Demography. In the 2011 census the population of the community, which includes the village of Greenfield, was recorded as 8,886. The census figure for the larger Holywell built-up area was 9,808. With the adjoining villages, including Whitford and Carmel, the population of the area is over 15,000.
