You absolutely should. A gaming PC easily beats the next-gen consoles in terms of performance and total cost of ownership.

120 FPS

According to Eurogamer, highly popular games like Rocket League and Call of Duty: Warzone have each received updates from Psyonix and Infinity Ward, respectively, to operate at 120 fps on the Xbox Series X but not the PS5. Warzone can only run at 60 fps right now on the PS5.

Fortnite will now be able to run at 120 frames per second on the PS5 and Xbox Series X / S. “120FPS Mode” can be enabled in Fortnite’s video settings, but like other performance modes in console games, it does come with some caveats.

For players who prefer 4K over 120 FPS, please make sure “Performance Mode” isn’t enabled in your PS5 console settings. With the release of Fortnite v15. 10, we’ve added 120 FPS support in Battle Royale/Creative modes on both PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S!

Both the Series S and the Series X can run games at 4K. And both systems can reach a frame rate of 120 fps. In the case of the Series S, the console can run games at 4K at 60 frames per second.

With a new generation of consoles comes new hardware capabilities. One of the exciting new features of the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S is the ability to run games at 120 FPS, providing a smoother experience of 60 FPS.

The Series S is designed with 1440p and 60fps in mind, but can support up to 120fps. (To set your expectations correctly, we’ll likely be looking at less graphically-intense games running over 60fps, rather than the latest AAA games).

If your graphics card and CPU can support 120 or 144 Hz, then yes you can. If you have a 144Hz and 60Hz dual, your max is still 60Hz. If you have a 120fps game running on a 60Hz monitor, you will still only see 60 new frames a second.

Shooting 120 fps or 240fps gives you more information in a shot. So when you play a 120 fps video in 24fps it will be 5 times slower. So 120 frames when played at 24 frames per second will create a slow motion video.

Then you’ll need to make sure your shutter speed is twice the inverse of your frame rate. So, if you’re shooting at 60 fps, set your shutter speed at 1/120 (or whatever’s closest), and if you’re shooting at 120 fps, set your shutter speed aaaatttt…1/140 (or whatever’s closest). That’s right!
