With his death, the series officially ended. But Jacques, at 72, was still very young. Assume he had died of old age, in his 90’s or even 100’s. Jacques knew the answer to how he planned to end the series, and he is gone.

Share All sharing options for: Netflix is making a Redwall movie, and The Verge staff is very excited. Earlier this week, Netflix dropped a surprise announcement that it’s adapting author Brian Jacques’ iconic Redwall books into a new animated movie and TV franchise.

Brian Jacques’ beloved “Redwall” books are being adapted into a feature film and TV series thanks to a new rights deal between Netflix and Penguin Random House Children. Netflix announced it has enlisted Patrick McHale, creator of Cartoon Network’s “Over the Garden Wall,” to write the feature film.

Driven from the abbey, Chickenhound is maimed in the wilderness by the venomous adder Asmodeus Poisonteeth, a local terror in Mossflower Wood, the forest that surrounds the abbey. The king of the sparrows attacks Matthias but dies when the two plummet together off the abbey roof.

Salamandastron is a large, extinct volcano on the western shore of Mossflower country, and a badger stronghold. Typically when Badger Lords have children, their offspring run away.

Is there magic in Redwall? No, there is not magic in Redwall in the supernatural sense. However, some characters, like Magical Mugwort, Ambrose Spike, and Ballaw de Quincewold are known for their magic tricks and illusions.

The Solitary Beaver is the only beaver in the Redwall series, and was very rarely mentioned.

This will be the first feature based on Jacques’ book series, which chronicles the adventures of heroic animals that inhabit the forest haven of Redwall Abbey. The titles have sold roughly 30 million copies and been translated into more than 20 languages.

Asmodeus, who was also underneath the tree, bit him in the face. Miraculously, Chickenhound survived the encounter and hid deeper in the Mossflower wilderness, slowly treating his wounds with the knowledge of healing taught to him by his deceased mother.
