An Element of Art Form is one of the seven elements of art which are the visual tools that an artist uses to compose a work of art. In addition, to form, they include line, shape, value, color, texture, and space.

The Elements of Composition are, in Western art, generally considered to be: Balance, Contrast, Focus, Motion, Pattern, Proportion, Rhythm and Unity. Balance: Is there a symmetrical or asymmetrical arrangement? Symmetry can add a sense of calm, orderliness, whereas asymmetry can lend a sense of unease, imbalance.

See also: 5 Tips for Better Compositions. Balance refers to the overall distribution of visual weight in a composition. A well-balanced composition feels comfortable to look at. Each visual component of an artwork has visual weight.

From the mightiest blue whale to the most miniscule paramecium, life as we know it takes dramatically different forms. Nonetheless, all organisms are built from the same six essential elemental ingredients: carbon, hydrogen, nitrogen, oxygen, phosphorus and sulfur (CHNOPS). Why those elements?

The two essential elements that affect life are carbon and oxygen. Most of the carbon is found in the form of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere.

The most important are iron, manganese, zinc, copper, iodine, cobalt, selenium, molybdenum, chromium, and silicon (see also micronutrient). Each element may fulfil one or more of a variety of metabolic roles.
