A solenoid valve controls the flow of gas or other fluids, while a solenoid coil is energized by an electric current that creates a magnetic field. When the coil in a fuel solenoid is energized, it causes a plunger inside the coil to move, activating the valve.

Symptoms of a Bad or Failing Fuel Pump Shut Off Switch

• Engine suddenly stops while driving. One of the first symptoms of a potential issue with the fuel pump shut off switch is an engine that suddenly stalls while driving.
• Switch that trips for no reason.
• No start condition.

There is many types of fuel solenoid, this one is the fuel shut off solenoid. 3 wires, a black wire to ground, red wire goes to positive, white wire touches red wire for one sec to pull and hold the solenoid. When red wire disconnect from positive, it will stop holding.

Check the fuel flow before re-attaching the float bowl. Place a small plastic container under the carburetor and turn the fuel valve to the “On” position and back to the “Off” position. Keep the fuel on long enough to see fuel come out of the carburetor. If fuel begins to flow, continue to step nine.

the primer bulb should be mostly fuel, check the lines they get old and start cracking. replace with tygon. there is a fuel pump in the carb operated by pulses from the crank case, the diaphragm in it can can go bad also.

Any leak at a hose connection will suck air (not fuel). Try bypassing all that and give the fuel pump a short hose out of a gas jug. Then prime the carbs (I like using pre-mix in a squirt bottle) to get it to chug to life and the fuel pump will prime pretty quickly.

A dead battery is the most common reason for a jet ski not starting. So, if your jet ski won’t start, before doing anything else immediately check the charge on your battery. If you turn the key and nothing happens, then it’s very likely the battery is totally shot and will have to be replaced.

The most common reason why jet skis won’t accelerate properly is a clogged or damaged jet pump. Jet ski pumps are prone to sucking up seaweed, rocks, ropes, and other debris from the water. In the worst cases, these objects (especially rocks) can damage the impeller or the wear ring.

If your jet ski revs but won’t go, the first culprit most likely is something was sucked up in the impeller. This typically is some seaweed, rope, or other item. Take the ski out of the water and do an inspection. The second most likely item would be the wear ring is bad.
