12. Snape’s Last Words. In the [Deathly Hallows] book, Snape’s dying words to Harry were “Look at me”. Even in his last moments, he wanted to look at Harry’s green almond-shaped eyes, and remember the one woman he loved more than himself.

Snape wanted to look into Harry’s eyes because Harry had Lily’s eyes,the woman he’s loved in life and in death. I was lucky to get this the first time I had read the “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows” book and with his dying wish, I was able to better appreciate Snape’s bravery and his character.

In which case they were meant to lure Harry to the forest to his death. Voldemort’s calling him to the forest corroborates with this. Snape might actually have been dying, but, still loyal to Voldemort. He could have tampered with his memories, to send Harry needlessly to his death.

The first thing Snape asks Harry is “Potter! What would I get if I added powdered root of asphodel to an infusion of wormwood?” According to Victorian Flower Language, asphodel is a type of lily meaning ‘My regrets follow you to the grave’ and wormwood means ‘absence’ and also typically symbolised bitter sorrow.

He said, “According to Victorian flower language, asphodel is a type of lily meaning ‘my regrets follow you to the grave’ and wormwood means ‘absence’ and also typically symbolizes bitter sorrow.” If you combined that, Snape’s words mean “I bitterly regret Lily’s death.”

However, Snape never really built a relationship with Harry, but rather only had his own perception of Harry and a created relationship in the shadows. Harry finally found out what was going on between Professor Snape and his parents.

No (probably). There are no in-canon descriptions of Snape having a close personal relationship (sexual or otherwise) with anyone other than Lily Evans. Some time around her 15th birthday he managed to offend her and that seems to have been that.

Snape believed it was his fault because he felt he had not done enough to protect her. Thus leading to his alliance with Dumbledore and he promising to protect her son; Harry. Thus leading to the events in the books. So yes Snape did blame himself for Lilly’s death because he felt as he didn’t do enough to protect her.

Considering everything the books told us Lily was very good at potions, while Snape was a complete genius at it. Even Slughorn, who is our main source when it comes to Lily’s affinity for potions, admits that the only student who could be compared to Harry’s year-six-skills (he got from Snape’s book) was Snape himself.

She was pretty good at Potions and better than most of the class due to the amount of perseverance and diligence she had.

She was probably the first person he felt confortable with, someone to be himself. So his friendship became a crush and crush became love. When Lily was in danger because of the prophecy Snape tried to warn so they could protect themselves. When Lily dies, Snape’s love becomes devotion.
