Organic shapes are irregular and imperfect. Naturally these shapes will all be slightly different from one another. They are often curved and flowing and can seem unpredictable. Using organic shapes can make a piece of art or design seem more natural and real.

ORGANIC: shapes, often curvilinear in appearance, that are similar to those found in nature, such as plants, animals, and rocks. GEOMETRIC: any shapes and based on math principles, such as a square, circle, and triangle.

Freeform shapes can be closed or open, and have no defined name or qualities. Geometric shapes are close shapes, with a specific name and distinct qualities.

Shapes defined by objects are positive shapes (space). Shapes defined around objects are negative shapes (space). By organizing geometric and organic shapes, we can draw anything. Even complicated objects become easy to draw when we isolate basic geometric and organic shapes.

Shapes are limited to two dimensions: length and width….2. Organic shapes:

• Are shapes with a natural look and a flowing and curving appearance.
• Organic shapes and forms are typically irregular or asymmetrical.
• Organic shapes are associated with things from the natural world, like plants and animals.

Geometric shapes are shapes made out of points and lines including the triangle, square, and circle. Other shapes are so complex that it takes math in order to create them. These shapes are the opposite of organic shapes.

Geometric patterns are a collection of shapes, repeating or altered to create a cohesive design. While you have the shape meanings down, you might not know where to start.

For example, the shape of a tree is irregular or organic. In plane geometry, the two-dimensional shapes are flat shapes and closed figures such as circle, square, rectangle, rhombus, etc. In solid geometry, the three-dimensional shapes are cube, cuboid, cone, sphere and cylinder.

At the core of any geometric design stand five basic geometric shapes and each of them symbolizes something:

• The square/rectangle. This is the most commonly used shape in online design and gives a sense of balance and tradition.
• The circle.
• The rhombus.
• The triangle.
• The hexagon.

Circles, squares, triangles, and rectangles are all types of 2D geometric shapes.

A Parallelogram is a flat shape with opposite sides parallel and equal in length. Angles “a” and “b” add up to 180°, so they are supplementary angles. NOTE: Squares, Rectangles and Rhombuses are all Parallelograms!

Its properties include that each pair of opposite sides is parallel, also making it a parallelogram. In summary, all squares are rectangles, but not all rectangles are squares. All rectangles are parallelograms, but not all parallelograms are rectangles. And all of these shapes are quadrilaterals.

A rectangle has two pairs of opposite sides parallel, and four right angles. It is also a parallelogram, since it has two pairs of parallel sides. A square has two pairs of parallel sides, four right angles, and all four sides are equal. It is also a rectangle and a parallelogram.

There are three special types of a parallelogram.

• Rhombus: A parallelogram in which all sides are equal.
• Rectangle: A parallelogram in which all angles are right angles and the diagonals are equal.
• Square: A parallelogram with all equal sides and all angles equal to 90 degrees. The diagonals of a square are also equal.

In a parallelogram, opposite sides are equal, opposite angles are equal and diagonals bisect each other. A quadrilateral can be constructed uniquely if its two adjacent sides and three angles are given. • A quadrilateral can be constructed uniquely if its three sides and two included angles are given.

A trapezium is not a parallelogram because a parallelogram has 2 pairs of parallel sides. But a trapezium only has 1 pair of parallel sides.

A quadrilateral is a four-sided two-dimensional shape. The following 2D shapes are all quadrilaterals: square, rectangle, rhombus, trapezium, parallelogram and kite.

the rhombus is a slanted square and the parallelogram is a slanted rectangle. they both are quadrilateral. The term ‘quadrilateral’ means 4 sides. so a square, rhombus etc.

Rectangle: Like a square, a rectangle has four right angles and two pairs of opposite sides that are parallel. Unlike the square, however, although opposite sides are equal in length, sides that share a corner — adjacent sides — may have different lengths.
