Nick says that Jordan is fundamentally a dishonest person; he even knows that she cheated in her first golf tournament. Nick feels attracted to her despite her dishonesty, even though he himself claims to be one of the few honest people he has ever known.

Why does Nick choose to share his thoughts and feelings with Jordan? Nick is an extremely lonely person. Nick also describes himself as being a lonely person anyways. Nick is also attracted to Jordan, so its worth mentioning to it her.

Like Gatsby, Jordan seems drawn to Nick because he presents himself as a stable, honest, and grounded personality in the midst of many larger-than-life, overbearing types. She even says that she’s drawn to him because he’s cautious.

Although attracted to her, Nick has a relationship to end before he can become involved with her, which contrasts his ethics and her dishonesty. Ironically, Nick finds Jordan’s openness about her character attractive, as when he criticizes her driving: “I am careful.” “No, you’re not.”

Despite loving Gatsby, and attempting to call off her wedding to Tom, Daisy finally marries him because she knows that she wont have to live ‘sparingly’, as Tom can provide her with every materialistic thing she could ever want, and will be able to protect her from the harsh world with his money.

Gatsby was not in love with Daisy, but rather obsessed with the idea of who he thought she was.

He feels that he is in a new place after he is drunk. Nick getting drunk shows how untrustworthy he is as a narrator, and how irresponsible he is not having a good manner at parties that are important. After Gatsby’s death at the end of the novel, it is only understood through Nick’s perspective.

Of course, we are left to infer Nick’s motives from his narrative, and yet the central reason why Nick does not want to leave Gatsby is because he recognises what Gatbsy is only just beginning to recognise: that Gatsby has failed in achieving his dominant dream–to gain Daisy.

To show Daisy all his wealth, the material and styles of each shirt. Obviously, Daisy, with all her money, is not going to cry over some shirts; why does she cry? She cries because she regrets not waiting for Gatsby because she could have been happy and rich.
