Most jellyfish bioluminescence is used for defense against predators. Jellyfish such as comb jellies produce bright flashes to startle a predator, others such as siphonophores can produce a chain of light or release thousands of glowing particles into the water as a mimic of small plankton to confuse the predator.

Osamu Shimomura first isolated GFP from the jellyfish Aequorea victoria, which drifts with the currents off the west coast of North America. He discovered that this protein glowed bright green under ultraviolet light.

Government Furnished Equipment (GFE) Government Furnished Equipment (GFE) (FAR Part 45) is equipment that is owned by the government and delivered to or made available to a contractor.

What is Government Furnished Material (GFM)? Government furnished material (GFM) is another form of Government-owned property that is sometimes provided to contractors. Raw titanium for use in ship construction, nuts, bolts, washers, screws, and other consumable items are all examples of GFM.

The Government maintains accountability of the property when it is used within the Government site or installation. If an incident of loss occurs while the laptops are provided as incidental to the place of performance it would not be covered by the Government property clause of FAR 52.245-1 as GFP is.

The Plant Clearance Automated Reutilization Screening System (PCARSS) is the Defense Contract Management Agency (DCMA) eTool application referenced in DFARS 252.245-7004. DPAS Program Office. The Defense Property Accountability System (DPAS) Program Office is co-located with the Property and Equipment Policy (P&EP) Office. DPAS is the generally accepted APSR for DoD and Components managing over $1 Trillion in accountable property.

It includes items like spares and property furnished for repair, maintenance, overhaul, or modification. It can be items taken or requisitioned from Government inventory or purchased by the Government specifically to be provided on a contract.

GOVERNMENT FURNISHED-PROPERTY (GFP): Property in the possession of or directly acquired by the Government and subsequently made available to the contractor. GFX: Government Furnished Equipment, Property, Information, Facilities, and Services identified in Attachment 4 of the FCS Other Transaction Agreement (OTA).

GFX is an abbreviation for Government Furnished Equipment.

The FAR Inspection of Construction clause states that “Acceptance shall be final and conclusive except for latent defects, fraud, gross mistakes amounting to fraud, or the government’s right under any warranty or guarantee.”
