When we first meet Friar Laurence, he is out at dawn gathering herbs into a willow basket, as we see in the lines, “I must up-fill this osier cage of ours / With baleful weeds and precious-juiced flowers” (II. iii. In other words, Friar Laurence is out at dawn collecting both healing herbs and poisonous herbs.

The friar sets forth a plan: Romeo will visit Juliet that night, but make sure to leave her chamber, and Verona, before the morning. He will then reside in Mantua until news of their marriage can be spread. The Nurse hands Romeo the ring from Juliet, and this physical symbol of their love revives his spirits.

In Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, when we first meet Friar Lawrence, he is outdoors, carrying an ‘osier’ – a basket – and picking flowers and herbs for his medical practice. He describes his early-morning task of picking ‘baleful weeds and precious-juicèd flowers.

The Friar is collecting herbs and flowers while he postulates on their powers to medicate and to poison. Romeo tells him of his love for Juliet and asks the Friar to marry them later that day. The dual nature within the Friar’s plants suggests a coexistence of good and evil.

In Act II, Scene III, of Romeo and Juliet, Romeo visits Friar Lawrence and declares his love for Juliet. He then asks the Friar if he will marry them: I’ll tell thee as we pass, but this I pray: That thou consent to marry us today.

Friar Laurence arrives to tell Romeo that the Prince has banished him from Padua and tells him to get out of town and never come back under pain of death. The Friar is angry with Romeo for being ungrateful and explains that Romeo is lucky that he wasn’t condemned to death.

Friar Lawrence is surprised when Romeo says he loves Juliet, because he was so recently in love with Rosaline, but he agrees to marry Romeo and Juliet to potentially end the feud. Friar Lawrence is a confidante and mentor to Romeo. He is aware of Romeo’s love life, and knows that he was pining for Rosaline.

The Friar is a close friend of Romeo’s. He is a good and kind character who supports the young lovers and helps them to marry in secret. After Romeo is banished, he makes a potion that Juliet will take to appear dead.

Friar can also be a manipulative and sneaky man. For example, he agrees to marry Romeo and Juliet without parental consent, so the feud between the Capulets and Montagues will end. Another example as to why the Friar is sneaky is when he and Juliet come up with a plan to fake Juliet’s death.

Character #3- Friar Lawrence Frier Lawrence was the character that caused most of the big changes like the death of Romeo and Juliet. He was a static character because he didn’t go threw any important changes during the book. He was a flat character because he didn’t go threw any little changes either.

Friar Lawrence is neither a hero or a villain, and he’s not responsible for their deaths. Arguably of all the characters in the play, the Friar is the one most concerned with others.

Friar Laurence is a priest in Verona and a confidante of Romeo, He is kind, optimistic, loving, religious and believes the best of people. Romeo sees Friar Laurence as a role model, an almost father figure. Whenever Romeo has a problem, he confides in Friar Laurence and seeks his advice.

Friar Lawrence is a valuable person in the book Romeo and Juliet. Friar Lawrence is guilty for the death of Romeo and Juliet is because he gave Juliet the potion, he knew how Romeo would react the way he did, and he had left Juliet by herself when she found out Romeo was dead.

What doubts does Juliet have about Friar Laurence? Potion might not work, also potion might kill her. Suffocation, Romeo might not be their, Juliet might be surrounded by her ancestors bodies and die of craziness.

Friar Laurence thinks that juliet will accept his plans because it is a solution to not marry Paris and to marry Romeo. Juliet shows her maturity in this scene by taking the potion so she can see Romeo. If the Potion does not work, what will Juliet do? If the potion does not work Juliet will kill herself.

Friar’s solution to Juliet’s problem is for her to drink a liquid that appears to stop her life for 42 hours, then he will inform Romeo. Since Juliet will be in her family crypt Romeo and the Friar will wait there until she wakes up, and then Romeo and Juliet will head to Mantua.
