They’ve been kidnapped by henchmen Jasper and Horace, who are working for the vain and fashion-obsessed Cruella de Vil, a former classmate of Perdita’s human, Anita. Cruella wants the puppies killed and skinned so she can make them into a coat. And that’s it.

At the end of the movie, Cruella has stolen one of the Dalmatians, who’s given birth to a litter of puppies. The only explanation is that Disney failed to really explain Cruella properly, because they were too scared of her becoming an actual villain nobody could root for.

Directed by Clyde Geronimi, Hamilton Luske, and Wolfgang Reitherman, it was Disney’s 17th animated feature film. The film tells the story of a litter of Dalmatian puppies who are kidnapped by the villainous Cruella de Vil (“deVille”), who wants to make their fur into coats.

At one point, Cruella joked about turning them into coats, but she never harmed them. This is already a big change in Cruella’s history and one that will be a big obstacle for 101 Dalmatians as she now has a bond with three dalmatians, so there’s no way she could suddenly decide to skin dogs and wear them as a coat.

In the live-action Disney film, it is revealed that the reason Cruella chooses to skin puppies is that when short-haired dogs grow older, their fur becomes very coarse, which does not sell as well in the fur fashion industry as the fine, soft fur of puppies….

It is there the movie arbitrarily suggests Cruella de Vil’s eventual obsession with Dalmatians is because that breed of dog was used as a literal murder weapon in the death of her mother. I had killed my mother.” She even later jokes it’s the same old sad story: “genius girl gets her mother killed and ends up alone.”

There are some crimes from which there is no redemption, and killing puppies is one of them. Cruella would appear to be irredeemably evil in 101 Dalmatians, and yet Emma Stone’s version of the character, while she’s capable of extreme acts, really isn’t bad. But fans should have trusted in Emma Stone.

Cruella de Vil’s mother was killed by a vicious pack of Dalmatians.

In Storybrooke As Maleficent transforms into a dragon, Cruella uses her breath to exhale green smoke and puts her frenemy to sleep, then comes up with a plan to go after the Author. They arrive just in time to see Emma use her powers and kill Cruella by knocking her off the cliff.

Carlos Oscar De Vil is the main tritagonist in Descendants and Descendants 2 and a major character in Descendants 3. He is the son of Cruella De Vil. He was first introduced in Isle of the Lost: A Descendants Novel and appeared as the bully target of Jay and Mal.
