I would usually say something like this: “Thanks for reaching out. In order to answer that question, I need a bit more information.” Then I would ask the first two questions: When do you need this cake and how many people will it be serving?

Its best to give at least a day in advance notice so the finished cake with writing is complete before your visit. As long as there is someone working in the department they will do it. Your best bet would be going during “normal” business hours.

Generally speaking, I find the frosting is too sweet, but the cake itself is moist and tasty. As an added bonus, Walmart’s cakes are very affordable. Just like pretty much everything else at Walmart. So if you aren’t looking for anything fancy, and just want inexpensive cake, Walmart is probably a good option.

Depending on how special and elaborate clients want cake details to be, it can increase the cost because it is labor intensive and it may require new tools necessary to create intricate designs. Clean edges, perfect lines, realistic flowers, figurines, and color matching require artistic skill and time.

An 8″ round with 24 servings is minimum $96 (plus taxes). For tiered cakes, they generally start at $4.50 per serving for 2 tiers and the price increases per tier (by $. 25 per tier, so a 4 tiered cake would be a minimum $4.50 per serving) and for difficulty/design.

Most of our custom tiered cakes end up being between $6-$9 per serving, although some have gone upwards of $10-$12 per serving – it all just depends on the size and design. A smaller cake with more details will cost more per serving than a large cake with less details.

On the lower end, couples spend around $125 and on the higher end, they typically spend upward of $700—often over $1,000! —on their wedding cake.

What I mean by that, is that you should have a general idea of what you want to spend or can afford to spend on your cake. I get that for most people, they have no idea what a wedding cake costs, but it helps to get comfortable with the fact that a wedding cake for 100 will start around $6 per serving.
