In early 2017, some officials asserted that the water quality had returned to acceptable levels, but in January 2019, residents and officials expressed doubt about the cleanliness of the water. There were an estimated 2,500 lead service pipes still in place as of April 2019.

Outside of the campus itself, Flint is not very safe in most areas and I would not recommend living there. Flint is a decent place to live. Some things I don’t like about it is the loud gunshots or loud cars you hear at night. Besides that, Flint seems like a diverse place.

Flint continues to work to build a broader economic base. There is a small but proud base of cultural attractions including an orchestra and other performing arts, plus a few quality museums. Cost of living and housing are low. The city is located in the Flint River Valley in the center of Genesee County.

Replacing the pipes in Flint Michigan would be the most efficient and complete solution. Replacing the lead pipes with plastic pipes along with clean water while switching back to the city of Detroit’s water supply for now would most likely be the only possible permanent solution.
