5 things robots do better than humans (and 3 things they don’t)

Each movement of the surgeon is translated through high precision to robotic arms that can perform tasks such as cutting and removing tissue to stitching patients. At the same time mobile robots are being used for disinfection and spraying chemicals in public areas.

Robotic surgery, or robot-assisted surgery, allows doctors to perform many types of complex procedures with more precision, flexibility and control than is possible with conventional techniques. Robotic surgery is usually associated with minimally invasive surgery — procedures performed through tiny incisions.

• Handling tedium. Repetitive activity, like uneventful nighttime patrols and collecting large amounts of mundane data, is boring… and some now say even harmful.
• Extreme sensing.
• Strength and speed.
• Unwavering focus.
• Perfect, objective recall.

Thus the androids appear to have emotion, because they behave as if they do (in the same manner that in the real world we can infer the presence of emotions in animals, although we have no knowledge of the subjective experience), and the actually have emotions, because they were programmed in this way.

But computers do not have human-like emotions in any rich or experiential natural sense. They may sense and label certain physical events as categories of “sensations,” but they do not experience feelings like we do.

We’re building emotionally intelligent computers, ones that can read my mind and know how I feel. Can computers understand emotions? When people talk to each other, they express their feelings through facial expressions, tone of voice and body postures. They even do this when they are interacting with machines.

Emotion AI refers to artificial intelligence that detects and interprets human emotional signals. Sources can include text (natural language processing and sentiment analysis), audio (voice emotion AI), video (facial movement analysis, gait analysis and physiological signals) or combinations thereof.
