Rough idling and rough running Engine stalling, rough idling, engine stumbling, and random surges of power are commonly associated with IAT sensor failure. These are concerning symptoms, and they can only worsen with time.

The Intake Air Temperature sensor is usually mounted in the intake manifold so the tip will be exposed to air entering the engine. It works the same as a coolant sensor. The PCM applies a reference voltage to the sensor (usually 5 volts), then looks at the voltage signal it receives back to calculate air temperature.

In order to safely and efficiently replace your IAT sensor, you will need a couple of basic tools.

1. Materials Needed.
2. Step 1: Locate the sensor.
3. Step 2: Disconnect the negative battery cable.
4. Step 3: Remove the sensor’s electrical connector.
5. Step 4: Remove the sensor.
6. Step 1: Install the new sensor.

2. Remove the cover of the dust sensor.
3. Check where the lens of the dust sensor is located.
4. Clean the lens.
5. Close the cover of the dust sensor.

Every air conditioning system (also called a cooling system, or AC) must have a thermostat. When the thermostat feels the air temperature rising above 72, it turns on the AC. The cooling unit then removes the heat from your house. Then as the thermostat feels the air cooling down to 72 degrees it turns off the AC.
