A number of equipment is required for playing softball. A helmet, chest protector, and shin guards are the main equipment required for safety and to play softball, we require a ball, a bat, gloves, and uniforms.

Some of the most common training aids include hitting nets, batting tees, weighted balls and weighted training bats. You will also need to be prepared for game day and bring many of the same items that you bring to practice like batting helmets, fielding faceguards, catcher’s gear, extra bats and extra softballs.

For example, sliding shorts and sliders are key to protecting players when they need to slide on close plays, and close plays are common occurrences during every softball game. Practice apparel, equipment bags, balls, cleats and helmets are also all essential for any softball player.

Catcher’s Equipment: Softball catchers must wear helmets with face guards and throat protectors, body protection (chest protectors) and shin guards that reach up above the knees. Failure to wear full body protection while catching can result in serious injuries.
