Holy Communion is to awaken our souls to love of God, and of our neighbour in God, and to make this love blossom into action. The fire of Charity enkindled in the soul by Holy Communion burns up and destroys venial sin just as material fire destroys bits of rubbish thrown into it.

The Holy Eucharist refers to Christ’s body and blood present in the consecrated host on the altar, and Catholics believe that the consecrated bread and wine are actually the body and blood, soul and divinity of Christ. In other words, only those who are united in the same beliefs are allowed to receive Holy Communion.

Increase in virtue, especially where you are the most weakest; ie, impatience, sloth, addictions — pornography, alcohol, violent outbursts etc. Your heart will ache when you have been separated from Him by Sin and you cannot receive Him through this fault or other circumstances such as travel etc.

When we receive the Eucharist, we build a closer relationship to Jesus. When we accept Him, He becomes our spiritual Bread of life who gives us strength, nourishes our soul and purifies our heart. It is in the Eucharist that people from different families come together to be one in worshipping God.

The Eucharist comprises two main parts: the liturgy of the word—that is, the proclaiming of the word of God in the Scriptures and the liturgy of the Eucharist—that is, the outpouring of thanks to God that includes the consecration and sharing of the bread and wine in which Christ is present.

God’s presence can be experienced in a number of different ways. God’s presence can feel like “liquid love.” It can feel like a lightness or joy in your heart. It can feel like a deep sense of “knowing” something. God’s presence can feel like something greater than yourself is at work in the situation.

Divine presence is normally triggered by what we do or don’t do i.e, doing what God wants us to do and staying away from evil. Having God with you clears off all barriers on your path. Some people have the divine presence but are ignorant of it. This has cost them a lot resulting in various forms of heartache.

Here are the five ways to help along this spiritual transformation inside yourself:

1. Change your thinking about yourself and about God.
2. Regard every thought of God as God.
3. Practice believing that God dwells in you already.
4. Remember that God dwells in all others, too.
5. Be still and know that I am God.
