Following the Ten Commandments reminds our family of the importance of the atonement. Jesus loved us so much that he suffered and died so when we have difficulty obeying, we have a way to repent of our disobedience. Through Jesus Christ, we once again find freedom and happiness when God forgives our offenses.

Christians believe that because of his omnibenevolent nature, God gives human beings instructions on how to live a good life and get to Heaven after they die. According to Christian belief, the Ten Commandments are important rules from God that tell Christians how to live.

Though society pressures you to forgive the person who wronged you, the truth is that forgiving may be the worst thing you can do. Though many find a way to move forward in life, forgiveness truly eludes them. This does not make them bad people. This just means that it is not healing for them at this time.

4 Steps to Forgiveness

• Talk to someone you trust and open up about how hurt, sad or angry you may feel. Let your emotions out, and don’t apologize for them.
• Don’t withdraw or isolate yourself. Stay connected and feel the pain, even though it hurts. With someone there to listen, the pain is more bearable.

In a word – absolutely! Forgiveness is the foundation that must be laid in order to journey toward healing. When we forgive someone, instant healing doesn’t come (especially when the hurt causes deep emotional wounds).
