Prime Minister is the real custodian of all executive authority. Actually all the powers of President are exercised by Prime Minister in practical. The President appoints the leader of majority party in Lok Sabha as the Prime Minister.

The United States has only two major political parties: the Democrats and the Republicans. There are also smaller parties that aren’t as well known. These major parties have a duopoly, meaning that they share almost all the political power in the country.

In electoral politics, a third party is any party contending for votes that failed to outpoll either of its two strongest rivals (or, in the context of an impending election, is considered highly unlikely to do so). The largest since the mid-20th century are the Libertarian and Green Parties.

As per latest publication dated 23 September 2021 from Election Commission of India, the total number of parties registered was 2858, with 8 national parties, 54 state parties and 2796 unrecognised parties.

Minor parties in the U.S. include the Libertarian Party, the Green Party, Constitution Party, and others that have less influence than the major parties. Since the American Civil War (1861–1865), the major parties have been the Republican Party and the Democratic Party.

History of Political Parties in Nigeria. Back in the 1920’s, during the first republic, the NNDP ( Nigeria National Democratic Party) was the first political party to be founded in Nigeria. It was founded in 1923 by Herbert Macaulay, popularly known as one of the fathers of Nationalism in Nigeria.

It was later announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission on December 14, 2017 to be officially among the list of political parties in Nigeria. ANRP has an ideology of constructive pragmatism and has a slogan called “ Abundant Nigeria”. National Chairman: Tope Kolade Fasua
