The top four sectors consist of; ‘Food and Beverage’, ‘Accommodation’, ‘Travel and Tourism’ and ‘Entertainment and Recreation’. • Food and Beverages. The food and beverage sector which is professionally known by its initials as F&B is the largest segment of the hospitality industry.
• Travel and Tourism.
• Lodging.
• Recreation.

Training was predominantly delivered in Queensland (29%), New South Wales (28%), Victoria (20%) and Western Australia (13%). Apprentice and trainee commencements have been declining steadily since 2011, with roughly 7,830 commencements recorded in 2019.

However, while hotel and resort profit margins remained strong at 11.8% in the year to June 2018, competition in the pubs, taverns and bars sector eroded profit margins to 5.8% from 7.5% the previous year.8 Costs are rising in the hospitality sector.
