The Basic Teachings of Buddha which are core to Buddhism are: The Three Universal Truths; The Four Noble Truths; and • The Noble Eightfold Path.

The four truths therefore identify the unsatisfactory nature of existence, identify its cause, postulate a state in which suffering and its causes are absent, and set forth a path to that state.

The Pali terms ariya sacca (Sanskrit: arya satya) are commonly translated as “noble truths”. This translation is a convention started by the earliest translators of Buddhist texts into English.

In brief, the eight elements of the path are: (1) correct view, an accurate understanding of the nature of things, specifically the Four Noble Truths, (2) correct intention, avoiding thoughts of attachment, hatred, and harmful intent, (3) correct speech, refraining from verbal misdeeds such as lying, divisive speech.

Enlightenment is profoundly satisfying and transformative, but the mind remains in many respects unchanged. “You’re still neurotic, and you still hate your mother, or you want to get laid, or whatever the thing is. It’s the same stuff; it doesn’t shift that.

Abhidhamma Pitaka’s list of ten fetters

• sensual lust (Pali: kāma-rāga)
• anger (paṭigha)
• conceit (māna)
• views (diṭṭhi)
• doubt (vicikicchā)
• attachment to rites and rituals (sīlabbata-parāmāsa)
• lust for existence (bhava-rāga)
• jealousy (issā)

The number six traditionally represents humanity, and therefore seven is seen as the centre of humanity and its connection to the creator. In Buddhism, seven is the number of ascent, and Buddha is said to have walked this number of steps at his birth.

The number seven in the seven days of Creation is typological and the number seven appears commonly elsewhere in the Bible. Seven days of Creation (Genesis 1) e.g., God rested on and sanctified the seventh day (Sabbath). Anyone who dares to kill Cain “will suffer vengeance seven times over” (Genesis 4:15).

The Four Noble Truths They are the truth of suffering, the truth of the cause of suffering, the truth of the end of suffering, and the truth of the path that leads to the end of suffering.

The number 108 is considered sacred by the Dharmic Religions, such as Hinduism, Buddhism, and Jainism.

Why ‘7’ is the luckiest number.

The number 4 (四, pinyin: sì; Cantonese Yale: sei) is considered an unlucky number in Chinese because it is nearly homophonous to the word “death” (死 pinyin: sǐ; Cantonese Yale: séi).

The number 13 is synonymous with bad luck. It’s considered unlucky to have 13 guests at a dinner party, many buildings don’t have a 13th floor and most people avoid getting married or buying a house on a day marked by this dreaded number.

But the number four is considered unlucky because it sounds a lot like the word for “death,” and as a result Chinese buildings often lack a fourth floor (just as American buildings sometimes skip the 13th). Likewise, Chinese drivers avoid license plates ending in four.

Floor 0 is missing because first floor means ground floor in China, like the US. Floor 4 is missing because of the very similar pronunciation of “four” and “death” in Chinese.

17: Some Italians are superstitious about Friday the 17th because rearranging the Roman numeral XVII can create the word “VIXI”—translated from Latin to mean “my life is over.” 39: The number 39 gets a bad rap in Afghanistan.

There are six unlucky numbers in Japanese. Traditionally, 4 is unlucky because it is sometimes pronounced shi, which is the word for death. Sometimes levels or rooms with 4 don’t exist in hospitals or hotels.

The number eight is considered to be a lucky number in Chinese and other Asian cultures. Eight (八; accounting 捌; pinyin bā) is considered a lucky number in Chinese culture because it sounds like the word meaning to generate wealth (發(T) 发(S); Pinyin: fā). Property with the number 8 may be valued greatly by Chinese.

Basic numbering in Japanese

7 (seven) is the natural number following 6 and preceding 8. It is the only prime number preceding a cube. It is often considered lucky in Western culture and is often seen as highly symbolic.

The term “God’s number” is sometimes given to the graph diameter of Rubik’s graph, which is the minimum number of turns required to solve a Rubik’s cube from an arbitrary starting position (i.e., in the worst case). Rokicki et al.

In Christian numerology, the number 888 represents Jesus, or sometimes more specifically Christ the Redeemer. This representation may be justified either through gematria, by counting the letter values of the Greek transliteration of Jesus’ name, or as an opposing value to 666, the number of the beast.

Today is a day of sevens: 07/07/07. Seven is considered lucky by many people. There are seven days of the week, seven continents and seven brides for seven brothers.

If you think about Numerology, the number 7 is described as the seeker, the searcher of the truth, and the thinker. The number seven believes in seeing beyond the face and understanding the hidden truth. The number 7 has many links to spiritual pursuits, cultures, and religions.

In their eyes the number 3 was considered as the perfect number, the number of harmony, wisdom and understanding. It was also the number of time – past, present, future; birth, life, death; beginning, middle, end – it was the number of the divine.

Be it ‘navaratri’ or ‘navagrahas’, number nine is a significant part of the Indian psyche from time immemorial. Not to talk of the numeral 9, which is often cited as a ‘lucky number’ for many these days! The ‘Fruit of the Spirit’ comprises nine graces: love, peace, suffering, gentle, good, faith, meek and temperance.
