Spring / Summer 2021 Colour Trends

Often a True Summer has a real Summer ‘look’; ashy mid-brown hair, grey, blue or green eyes, and relatively light skin. Their best colours are mid pinks, lots of blues from denim to sky and the beautiful blue-greys of the Summer palette.

Usually a Summers skin tone is very fair; either porcelain white, or pale with pink cheeks. Darker blonde Summer’s with slightly darker skin may be able to pull of slightly darker colors than a regular Summer.

Nothing too intense or hard edged. The colors of Summer are cool, muted colors grayed with their complement. Think of the blue-greens of water, rose, pearl, white sand, cool pink-beige, cocoa brown, and blued and pinked grays. Orange, warm beiges and browns have no place here.

With just a hint of warmth, soft summers can have neutral, neutral-cool or olive skin, and deep blue, green, or gray-hazel eyes. The hair is always a bit darker but still ashy, and can have hints of red. Soft summers’ best colors are sea green, teal, rose brown, soft navy, and rose gold.

Summers have even more trouble with orange, because it’s often too vibrant for them along with being too warm. I like pairing coral shoes with a chambray dress – great combo for a Summer. The key for both Summers and Winters is to avoid orange near your face, so an orange belt, but not an orange scarf or sweater.

True Summer yellows are elusive in fabrics, so a typical True Summer almost never finds a yellow that looks good on her and thinks it’s one of her worst colors. Light Summer, though, can handle a range of cheerful, buttery yellows. On a Light Summer, yellow often picks up yellow in the hair or in the eye.

First, the lilac and pink tones. After all, pink and lilac are the most fashionable colour for summer 2021….And all the fashionable summer colors that follow, of course.

Soft Summer women can successfully wear medium and soft red shades like claret, Debian, cardinal or French wine red. Pair it with your best neutral shade – medium gray or some other muted cool one like this navy to emphasize your soft look. As you can see, both outfits have classic and casual traits.

Regardless of the colour, True Summer eyes are always softly greyed, making them muted and less vibrant than sparkling Spring or Winter eyes. Typical of the Summer eye, you may notice a crackled glass pattern on the iris. True Summer skin is always cool, with blue or beige undertones and possibly a pink tinge.

What Colors Suit Your Skin Tone? Light Skin. Light skin tones look good in pastels and some strong colors such as dark blue. Work beige, nudes and browns into your wardrobe. Medium or Olive Skin Tone. Medium and olive skin tones look good in earth-toned clothing. Dark Skin. Dark skin tones look great in white, khaki, gray, light blue, eggplant, bright red, orange and pink.
