Service Learning is an educational approach where a student learns theories in the classroom and at the same time volunteers with an agency (usually a non-profit or social service group) and engages in reflection activities to deepen their understanding of what is being taught.

• Start an information campaign for a health or prevention topic.
• Clean up a vacant lot and landscape with native vegetation.
• Start a letter-writing club to students in other states or countries and share stories with school.
• Clean up a local stream, park or pond.
• Establish a club to help an elderly neighbors.

Types of Service-Learning

• Tutoring other students and adults.
• Conducting art/music/dance lessons for youth.
• Giving presentations on violence and drug prevention.
• Helping in a homeless shelter.
• Creating life reviews for Hospice patients.

Service-learning provides students with opportunities to develop civic engagement skills. By working with community members, students can enhance their group, organizational and interpersonal skills. They also can gain important experience working with diverse members of their communities.

There are three types of community service and service-learning: direct, in-direct and advocacy. Once a community need is identified, the project activities that are developed will align with one or more of the types.

There are four main stages of service-learning. They consist of: preparation, action, reflection, and demonstration. By following these four steps, teachers can design service-learning activities that are effective and enjoyable for students (Kaye, 2004, p.

Service sector provides finance, marketing, transport, insurance for the development of the agriculture sector. The expansion of service sector activities boost the secondary sector activities as well. Service sector can play a major role in reducing inequalities in the distribution of income in the economy.

Goods and services are two important types of purchases people make. A good is a tangible or physical product that someone will buy, tangible meaning something you can touch, and a service is when you pay for a skill. A service is something intangible, which can’t be physically touched or stored.

Examples include specific situations, problems or stories intended to help communicate a more general idea. Brief examples are used to further illustrate a point that may not be immediately obvious to all audience members but is not so complex that is requires a more lengthy example.

The definition of procedure is order of the steps to be taken to make something happen, or how something is done. An example of a procedure is cracking eggs into a bowl and beating them before scrambling them in a pan. A manner of proceeding; a way of performing or effecting something.

Some common synonyms of example are case, illustration, instance, sample, and specimen.
