Q. What does MDD and MDR stand for?
On 26 May, 2021, the Medical Device Directive (MDD) will be replaced by the new Medical Device Regulation (MDR). This allows MDR to provide a regulation which is consistent and fair to all member states, increasing the standards on quality and safety measures.

The Competent Authority is a body with authority to act on behalf of the government of the member state to ensure that the requirements of the Medical Device Directives are transposed into National Law and are applied.

Any bidder from a country which shares a land border with India will be eligible to bid in this tender only if the bidder is registered with the Competent Authority. The Competent Authority shall normally be the authority who is competent to sign the contract.
