Cool colors are typified by blue, green, and light purple. They can calm and soothe. Where warm colors remind you of heat and sunshine, cool colors remind you of water and sky, even ice and snow.

Cold colours are: green, blue, indigo and violet. Warm colours are: red, orange and yellow. Cold colours are linked to quietness, sweetness, rest, contemplation, sadness and different shades of these frames of mind. Warm colours, on the contrary are exciting, they convey joy, strength, power, energy, passion.

The Symbolism of Cool Colors Cool colors tend to have a calming effect. At one end of the spectrum, they are cold, impersonal, antiseptic colors. At the other end, the cool colors are comforting and nurturing. Blue, green and the neutrals white, gray, and silver are examples of cool colors.

Cool colors are thought to be calming, relaxing and reserved. Because of this, cool colors are often made by mixing a warm and cool hue. (Purple is the combination of blue and red, for example.) Cool colors are often used by businesses because of this notion of harmony.

Warm colors typically have undertones that are orange, yellow, or red, while cool colors have undertones that are green, blue, or purple.

Here’s the way I distinguish colors in paints: The closer a color is to red-orange, the warmer it is; the closer to blue-green, the cooler it is.

Artists and theorists tend to agree that the warmest color is somewhere in the red-orange-yellow range, and the coolest color is somewhere in the green-blue-purple range. Some will say that blue is the coolest color, and its opposite, orange, is the warmest.

While some people may appear to have irises that are black, they don’t technically exist. People with black-colored eyes instead have very dark brown eyes that are almost indistinguishable from the pupil.
