Introduced Species Some species are brought to a new area on purpose. Often, these species are introduced as a form of pest control. Other times, introduced species are brought in as pets or decorative displays. People and businesses that import these species do not anticipate the consequences.

An introduced species is a non native species that has one way or another been integrated into the native environment by human or other means. An invasive species on the other hand is an introduced organism that has become detrimental to the local environment.

Killing potentially large numbers of animals seems counterintuitive to conservation. But more and more evidence has shown that removal of invasive species from threatened ecosystems is not only effective at restoring endangered habitats and species, but necessary.
