Patronage. Lorenzo is remembered as The Magnificent for his political astuteness as well as his artistic skills. He was a writer, a poet and a great patron: in these capacities he did so much to beautify his beloved Florence. He continued the Medici patronage of ecclesiastical institutions.

As a poet and a patron of poets, he stimulated the revival and splendor of Italian literature. At a time when the major city-states of Italy were engaged in a fierce political and economic rivalry with one another, Lorenzo de’ Medici managed to preserve the independence and territorial integrity of Florence.

Why is Lorenzo de’ Medici significant? Known as Lorenzo the Magnificent, the Florentine statesman and arts patron is considered the most brilliant of the Medici. He ruled Florence for some 20 years in the 15th century, during which time he brought stability to the region.

The show often teased that it would go its own way, but never did. And the audience were strung along and eventually disillusioned. The death of Francis in particular cut the viewing audience by a considerable degree which helped bring about its eventual cancellation.

Francis’ time was running out however, and Charles was not interested in partaking in his lessons. Now that he has officially been crowned, Charles is now the new King of France. He became such upon the death of his elder brother King Francis, that he fought for his mother to become Regent.

Reign has come to an end after four seasons, but some viewers were left wondering what had happened to one major character – Bash. That never materialised, though – and Bash was killed off-screen.

King Henry’s death marked the 55th death of Season One. His wife, Queen Catherine, discovered he had been poisoned by his personal bible, and that is what caused him to go mad..

The relationship between Kenna and Sebastian. Bash promised Kenna he will protect her from his father whom she had become afraid of which caused the two to become closer. Later, their feelings began to show and they eventually make love. By the season finale, they declared their love for each other.

He nodded to her before riding off. Greer recently revealed privatly she has been pregnant with Martin de Lambert’s child since their night together months earlier.

During the series, Greer had a secret relationship with kitchen servant, Leith. She eventually fell in love with him but knew that she cannot be with him due to his status.

In The Hound and the Hare, it was revealed that Greer is pregnant with Martin´s child. As Greer planned for her child to be adopted by her sister and brother-in-law, she found out that she was being betrayed by the both of them.

Not long after, Greer decided to keep her unborn baby. Mary Stuart arranged to have Lord Castleroy broken out of prison, after finding out Greer was pregnant. The couple left the capital together to raise Greer’s baby.

He died at 23 years old. Was betrothed to Princess Elizabeth of France, and years later, her younger sister, Princess Margaret. Briefly in talks to marry Mary, Queen of Scots, and Anna of Austria.

Fast forward to the final season of Gran Hotel, and viewers discovered that Don Carlos was actually poisoned with arsenic by his hotel manager, Diego, after Don Carlos denied his request to marry his daughter, Alicia.

In 1559 Prince Carlos was betrothed to Princess Elizabeth, the oldest daughter of King Henry II of France. However, she ended up married to King Philip II of Spain in 1560. After his recovery, Carlos became wild and unpredictable in his behaviour.
