Jal Mahal Architecture While four of its stories remain under water, only the top story remains visible, giving you an impression that the palace is floating on the waters of the lake. Jal Mahal has been constructed out of red sandstone.

During the 18h century, the king of Amer – which is nowadays the historical region of Jaipur nearby the lake – decided to build a dam between the two surrounding hills to prevent any flood. It was then that the castle was partially covered in water.

JAIPUR: The state government has declared the city’s Jal Mahal and the Man Sagar lake as a protected area and placed it under the Rajasthan Lake Development Authority to restrict “activities” in and around the water body.

Since the entry to Jal Mahal itself has been stopped by the Government, you will not be able to visit the actual palace itself. However, a pathway around the Man Sagar Lake allows tourists to view the Jal Mahal. There is no entry fee and you can visit it during the day time from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM.

Jal Mahal is located near the famous tourist attraction of Jaipur, the Nahargarh fort. Visitors are not allowed for the entry in Jal Mahal Palace though sightseeing from a distance creates a deep interest of visiting the Palace.

Takeover of Amer Fort by Kachwahas Among the chief building is the Diwan-E-Khas in Amber Palace of Rajasthan and the elaborately painted Ganesh Poll built by the Mirza Raja Jai Singh I. The current Amer Palace was created in the late 16th century, as a larger palace to the already existing home of the rulers.

History Of Amer Fort It is also known as the ‘Jodha Bai Mahal’, but Jodha Bai Mahal is in Fatehpur Sikri – Agra. Hence, this Mahal is called ‘Kadmi Mahal’ (kadmi means prachen/old). As Raja Mansingh had 12 wives he felt this palace was very small, he started to build ‘Amar Mahal’ in the year 1575.
