Eliot Ness (April 19, 1903 – May 16, 1957) was an American Prohibition agent, famous for his efforts to bring down Al Capone and enforce Prohibition in Chicago. He was the leader of a famous team of law enforcement agents from Chicago, nicknamed The Untouchables.

On June 3, 1987, director Brian De Palma unveiled The Untouchables, based on the true story of how Treasury agent Eliot Ness brought down notorious Chicago mobster Al Capone.

10. The Union Station shootout scene was meant to take place on a train. Originally, the final gunfight saw Ness and George Stone battling Capone’s hitmen on a stopped train. However, Paramount decided that staging the elaborate scene while locating and restoring a genuine 1930s train would be too expensive.

While Capone did repeatedly attempt to buy them off, he never once attempted to kill Eliot Ness, nor any of his men. Albert H. Wolff, the last survivor of the real-life Untouchables, was a consultant on this movie, and helped Kevin Costner with his portrayal of Eliot Ness.

Ness’s career in law enforcement ended in 1944. Following a stint in business and a run for the Cleveland mayorship, Ness sank into debt. He died on May 7, 1957, in Coudersport, Pennsylvania.

Wiki Targeted (Games) Jimmy Malone (1873-1930) was a veteran CPD officer who helped Treasury agent Eliot Ness form a task force to take down Al Capone in 1930, a squad famously known as “The Untouchables”. Malone was murdered by Capone hitman Frank Nitti in 1930.

In recognition of this work, Ness was promoted to Chief Investigator of the Prohibition Bureau for Chicago in 1932. By that point, the Untouchables had essentially been disbanded, though Ness would continue to lead raids against Outfit breweries and distilleries until the repeal of Prohibition in 1933.

Death. After a few daring raids Malone was shot brutally by Frank Nitti. He was 68 years old.

Following a bloody shootout, the bookkeeper surrenders to Ness, giving them enough information to put Capone on trial for income tax evasion. Ness confronts Nitti in the middle of the trial; after a rooftop chase, Nitti brashly admits that he killed Malone and Ness pushes Nitti off the roof to his death.
