According to Twitter user @galacticidiots, who shared screenshots of Midnight Sun on social media while reading the book, Edward didn’t just stare at Bella all night, he actually spent the time while she was sleeping killing the spiders in her room.

Bella is the daughter-in-law of Edward, Sr. As a human, Bella possessed a natural immunity to the mental powers of vampires. After her transformation into a vampire, she develops it into the ability to project a mental shield that protects others from the psychic powers of other vampires.

Shield penetration is Renesmee Cullen’s theorized ability to destroy or penetrate a mental shield. Aside from this gift, she also shows the power of tactile thought projection, which she can use to show people her thoughts and memories, with this power to break through their mental defenses.

Unfortunately, even though she loved being with Emmett, Rosalie never shared her mate’s fondness for being an immortal. Rosalie constantly tried to convince Bella to stay human, not only because she wasn’t particularly fond of Bella at first, but because she wished she could be human again as well.

When Edward and Bella begin a romantic relationship, Rosalie becomes jealous of her, because she is able to get Edward’s attention after she came to believe that he wouldn’t be fond of anyone on Earth. Another reason is that she thinks Bella has made a mistake falling in love with a vampire.

Rosalie is annoyed and jealous of Bella partly because Edward finds her attractive. She doesn’t understand Bella’s desire to be a vampire when Rosalie wishes she could be human again. In “Midnight Sun,” we learn Rosalie’s jealousy runs a bit deeper.
