Warrick appeared to have a close working and personal relationship with Catherine Willows, although it became clear throughout the show that their relationship did not develop into a romantic one. In the season 5 episode “Down the Drain”, he and Catherine shared a “romantic” moment which was interrupted.

In Willows in the Wind, Catherine had decided to leave CSI, due to being targeted by assassins, and take a job in the F.B.I in Quantico. Before she left she bid farewell to the rest of the team by calling a “Family meeting” at the end of the episode.

While Catherine and Warrick have never officially “hooked up” like Grissom and Sara, the writers have definitely alluded to a romantic possibility between them and the viewers have really picked up on it. It’s for this reason that I consider it a “canon” relationship, or at the very least, an example of romance on CSI.

Nick returns from a work-related trip to find that he has lost his office to new CSI supervisor D.B. Russell (season 12 premiere). In the season-12 finale, “Homecoming”, Nick announces to his colleagues that he is quitting his job at CSI, as he is no longer able to stand the widespread corruption in the department.

In August 2013, prior to CSI’s 14th season, Eads reportedly took a leave of absence after having an altercation with a writer from the show over what was described as “creative issues”.
