Gearing up the Cannon adds an additional, identical barrel alongside the original one. Also, the ridges which surround Cannons (starting from level 7) get extended and appear to surround both the Cannons, which makes it appear as if two cannons merged into one.

Archer Towers are better but they take twice as long to upgrade. For example, if you have level 7 cannons and level 7 archer towers, you can upgrade 2 cannons while upgrading one archer tower(2d for cannons and 4d for one archer tower). well a maxed out cannon does an additional 11 damage per second which is cool.

Double Cannons are very powerful defenses against ground tanks such as the Boxer Giant or the Battle Machine. A few volleys can do significant damage to them.

A general recommendation I have for geared up Cannons and Archer Towers is have the ones that are closer to the edge of your base in the geared up mode. Defenses closer to the edge of your base already cover less, so your “defensive range” will be hurt less from it.

Archer Towers are extremely versatile structures. They are able to target both ground and air units, and they have excellent range. This versatility means that they should form the cornerstone of every player’s defense.

(The same also holds true for Wizard Towers .) Even though you cannot upgrade Archers to level 5 until you upgrade your Laboratory to level 6 (which requires a level 8 Town Hall ), the Archers atop a level 8 Archer Tower (the max level for Town Hall 7) resemble level 5 Archers .

At higher levels, Archer Towers are placed outside Walls with low-health buildings. Strong solo troops like a Super Barbarian or a Valkyrie can destroy it. Archer Towers undergo significant visual changes at levels 3, 4, 5, 6, 9, 11, 13, 16, 18, and 20.

The Cannon is a single-target defense that deals moderate damage. It is the first defensive structure that a player builds at the start of their Clash of Clans adventure. The player is required to build one during the tutorial. Cannons are both cheap and quick to upgrade at lower levels.
