Wakanda, the fictional country in which Black Panther takes place, is a modern utopia in many ways—isolated, technologically and medically advanced, low in poverty, high in citizen satisfaction, and rich in natural resources. The main conflict of this movie is, at its core, about the future of Wakanda.

He sells off minute amounts of the valuable vibranium while surreptitiously sending the country’s best scholars to study abroad, consequently turning Wakanda into one of the world’s most technologically advanced nations.

The monetary unit used in Wakanda is the Wakandan Dollar. The major resource of the country is Vibranium, they have used this mineral to turn them into one of the economically stable nations on the planet. They were isolationists only trade when needed.

Wakanda remains hidden in a forest to protect the sole substance running the country: vibranium, the strongest material in the world that it is built on. It sustains the nation through its cultural, yet protective wardrobe, medical technologies and weapons.

Not only does Vibranium absorb the mechanical energy, it increases the strength of the material making it stronger and more damage-resistant. This means Vibranium should offer some degree of protection against any attack which causes metals to heat up, since heat is the increasing of energy between molecules.

Vibranium might absorb the kinetic energy from a lightsaber blow, but it could not deal with the heat over a prolonged period. When it comes to sheer durability, however, Mandalorian Beskar is much stronger than the Black Panther’s Vibranium.

As the ninth-most abundant element in the Earth’s crust, titanium is relatively rare. Research shows the strong and lightweight metal only accounts for roughly 0.63% of the Earth’s crust. With such little titanium available, it costs more to harvest and produce than other metals.

The short answer is yes, titanium or any metal that is hard enough can cause a ricochet.

1: Ti Armor. Titanium has long been recognized as a superior material for many combat systems and components due to an excellent combination of properties. It has a high strength-to-weight ratio, excellent ballistic mass efficiency, and is corrosion resistant.

1/2″ of AR500 steel would stop most bullets. That being said, the thickest armor ever made that I know of is 26″ thick and a US Navy 16″ 50 caliber firing a 2700 lb Mk 8 armor piercing shell was able to penetrate it quite easily.

In vacuum-like environments, where oxygen is limited, titanium will corrode and rust quickly. Pure titanium that is completely rust and corrosive resistant, however, is rare and hard to find and produce.

Metal detectors don’t literally detect metal material but the magnetic field that metal produces. Titanium is non-ferrous (non-iron based) so it has an extremely low magnetic field. Therefore, the airport metal detectors are not set off.

Titanium is considered a more noble metal than stainless steel in a saline environment [18] and therefore acts as the cathode while stainless steel is the anode. Therefore, titanium would be expected to accelerate the corrosion of stainless steel in a galvanic couple and not the opposite.

The least noble metal in such a galvanic coupling is more likely to corrode. However, some studies have failed to show increased corrosion when titanium and stainless steel are combined. We found a significant effect of the test medium, but no dramatic effect due to mixing of metals.

The key thing to note here is that while stainless steel has more overall strength, titanium has more strength per unit mass. As a result, if overall strength is the primary driver of an application decision stainless steel is generally the best choice. If weight is a major factor, titanium may be a better choice.

Blade stainless steel will hold the edge better. These are actually semi stainless steel. While it is relatively high in hardness, a blade need a very high hardness to keep an edge. Titanium blades are only used for corrosion intensive environments like for diving knives.
