McLuhan’s global village is indeed being realized, but it is not the utopia he prophesied.

Because the internet makes up a large part of our current technology, it is common to wonder whether the internet is a form hot or cold media. The answer is that the internet is wildly considered as a hot media.

In my humble opinion, social media is the extension of natural human desire to connect with others at a personal level. For this reason, hot media also include radio, as well as film, lecture and photograph. Cool media are usually, but not always, associated with the sense of hearing.

The term global village has been used to express the idea that people throughout the world are interconnected through the use of new media technologies.

According to Robertson the use of the term glocalization means that it is local culture which assigns meaning to global influences, and that the two are therefore interdependent and enable each other.

To live globally means to take into consideration the cultures, ethnicity, religions, and living situations of everyone around the world.

Answer: The world witnessed a lot of diverse developments in the 21st century. One such important development is globalisation and it has influenced every aspect of life. Many people are excited about living in a globalized world, yet a few people believe that globalization is not beneficial.

Global Citizenship nurtures personal respect and respect for others, wherever they live. Exploring Global Citizenship themes help learners grow more confident in standing up for their beliefs, and more skilled in evaluating the ethics and impact of their decisions.

There are some downsides to being a global citizen, however. One may not feel as much attachment to one’s own home country. One may not feel an urge to help local people with their own anti-poverty and anti-discrimination efforts.

A global citizen is someone who is aware of and understands the wider world – and their place in it. They take an active role in their community and work with others to make our planet more peaceful, sustainable and fairer.

National citizenship is an accident of birth; global citizenship is different. It is a voluntary association with a concept that signifies “ways of thinking and living within multiple cross-cutting communities—cities, regions, states, nations, and international collectives…” (Schattle 2007, 9).
