PortMiami, or the Port of Miami, and Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale, are not just two popular cruise ports in the Sunshine State. Miami, followed by Port Everglades, are the largest and busiest cruise ports in the nation, home to dozens of ships representing all of the major cruise lines.

Uber and Lyft to Port Everglades Rates are for the entire ride, which is the same regardless of the number of passengers. As you can see, it is a relatively inexpensive ride from the Fort Lauderdale airport to Port Everglades. A ride from the Miami airport would cost around $40 and take roughly an hour.

13 Things to Expect on the First Day of Boarding a Cruise Ship

1. Arrive early.
2. Get yourself to the ship.
3. Drop off your luggage.
4. Go through security.
5. Check-in.
6. Board the ship.
7. Expect a delay before getting into your cabin.
8. Listen for an announcement that cabins are ready.

Typically, most guests arrive around noon to 2pm. Keep in mind there is a cut off to when you can check-in for your cruise at the terminal. Royal Caribbean requires all guests to be checked-in and onboard the ship no later than 90 minutes prior to the published sailing time or you will not be permitted to sail.

The earliest that guests can board a cruise is between 4-5 hours before the ship is scheduled to sail away. Guests may be able to check in earlier but will usually not be able to embark until this time. A number of factors affect when you can embark a cruise ship.

We recommend no earlier than five hours after your ship arrives back at home port. So if your ship is scheduled to get back home at 7:00 a.m., your flight shouldn’t leave any earlier than 12:00 p.m. There will be times that this five hours gives you a ton of extra time.

Priority embarkation is offered to suite guests (except Junior Suite) and Crown & Anchor Society members on the following tiers: Platinum, Emerald, Diamond, Diamond Plus and Pinnacle.

Our Junior Suites, Grand Suites, Ocean View/ Panoramic (No Balcony) Suites, and Owner’s Suites all receive priority boarding, and our Royal Suite and Villa Suite guests are escorted onboard by an officer.

The Key program package is not worth it if… Royal Caribbean’s suite accommodations include a variety of VIP perks, some of which overlap with The Key. If you’re in a suite, you don’t need to pay extra for this package too. You don’t plan to take advantage of its offerings.
