Orewa College is a great school with heaps of opportunities and really great teachers. The school is great at accommodating every one and the number of students (around 2000) allows for a more diverse range of subject options.

Character of the Rodney area The Rodney Local Board covers an extensive area in the north of the region. It includes Kawau Island and a mix of townships and varied rural industries. The main townships are Kumeu/Huapai, Helensville, Warkworth, Matakana and Wellsford.

At the December 2016 Education Review Office (ERO) review of the school, Orewa College had 1847 students, including 63 international students. The school roll’s gender composition was 52% male and 48% female, and its ethnic composition was 69% New Zealand European (Pākehā), 12% Māori, 4% Asian, 3% Pacific Islanders, and 2% Other.

Orewa North School was founded in 1978, and another primary school opened at Red Beach to the south in 1988. Orewa College is a secondary (years 7-13) school with a roll of 1941 students.

Orewa College, along with the Rodney District Council decided to build a flexible, multi-use, modern auditorium and is now a valuable asset to the students and teachers of the college and the community.

Orewa was administered as part of the Rodney District for two decades, until this was subsumed into the new Auckland Council in October 2010 Pop.
