Money itself, such as dollars, francs, pesos, and pounds, can be counted. However, the word money is not a countable noun. The word money behaves in the same way as other noncount nouns like water, sand, equipment, air, and luck, and so it has no plural form.

It is a concrete noun – that is, you can point to a grandmother and say ‘that is a grandmother’, and it is usually a common noun (not a proper noun). The word ‘grandmother’ is a general term for all and any grandmothers, so it is not a ‘proper’ noun. ‘Grandmother Jones’ is a proper noun.

The abstract noun for ‘descent’ is ‘descent.

Music is an uncountable or mass noun so we cannot say a music or even a beautiful music.

While there are many different approaches to describing the building blocks of music, we often break music down into five basic elements: melody, texture, rhythm, form, and harmony.

The most common texture in Western music: melody and accompaniment. Multiple voices of which one, the melody, stands out prominently and the others form a background of harmonic accompaniment. If all the parts have much the same rhythm, the homophonic texture can also be described as homorhythmic.

Monophony means music with a single “part” and a “part” typically means a single vocal melody, but it could mean a single melody on an instrument of one kind or another. Polyphony means music with more than one part, and so this indicates simultaneous notes.

There are four types of textures that appear in music, Monophony, Polyphony, Homophony, and Heterophony.

Homophony first appeared as one of the predominant textures in Western classical music during the Baroque period in the early 17th century, when composers began to commonly compose with vertical harmony in mind, the homophonic basso continuo becoming a definitive feature of the style.

A basso continuo typically consists of a cello (or double bass) and organ or harpsichord. The cello plays the bass line while the keyboard player improvises chords, derived from musical shorthand notation called figured bass .

Basso continuo parts, almost universal in the Baroque era (1600–1750), provided the harmonic structure of the music by supplying a bassline and a chord progression.
